foodie: strawberry picking.

I decided that we just had to go strawberry picking before the season was up… not only because strawberries are my favourite fruit but because I love the idea of being surrounded in a field, by all the strawberries I can carry (and eat!). This surprising large strawberry farm is located between the Gold and Sunshine Coasts and allows visitors to PYO (pick your own) during strawberry season and charges by weight. The field was full of gorgeous, ripe, red strawberries and I think I managed to eat my way through the rows, looking for the richest red colour and perfectly shaped strawberries. The cafe also had a huge range of strawberry products including home made jam and the most amazing and delicious strawberry ice cream. It was the perfect afternoon and I would highly recommend it next season… I’d even just go back for the ice cream!Check it out here: strawberryfields.com.au

design: paper made.

I’m always browsing Behance.com to check out the latest projects and to see what designers all over the world have been creating. I found this eye-catching cover illustration made out of paper by Carolin Wanitzek from Germany. Some seriously well made elements, bright, bold colours and placement make this such a great piece. I love the idea that it’s all hand made out of paper, it just gives it some extra personality and uniqueness. Carolin continues this similar style through out her online portfolio and it’s just so interesting and visually appealing. Check this project and Caroline’s portfolio at: behance.net

design: adobe shortcuts.

I got sent this great Adobe keyboard shortcuts guide by a friend last night. I constantly use shortcuts while using, Adobe Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop (I don’t know how use flash) and it saves so much time! It also makes things easier, not only to do quickly but also remember. I’ve only leant these shortcuts over time, being a graphic designer and using the programs daily. I wish that I could have had these guides while I was at university to help save time and increase my proficiency. I’d highly recommend printing them out or saving them to your desktop for easy access whilst using or learning any of these programs. Click here to download them!

foodie: pie posters.

I found one of these gorgeous pie posters which on Pinterest over the weekend. Aren’t they super cute! Designed by the talented Andrea Nguyen, a graphic designer about to graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design (pictured above). I love the bold bright colours and simple illustrative design and these also work as great info graphics. It’s even made me want to make a Key Lime Pie! I’ll just have to wait until I finish my studies and marking in 2 weeks but I might even post up my recipe and finished product when I’m done. Check out more of Andrea’s work (and awesome website) at www.andrealikes.to or to purchase these or many other illustrations visit society6.com/andreanguyen
